Several years ago, The Breakers Resort developed a reputation as a fading, stodgy hotel for similarly-inclined clientele. But all that is behind it now. Over the past few years, the public spaces in this lavish and luscious example of Gold Coast elegance have been rebuilt, refinished and refined. Additional facilities, such as a modern new spa and beach club have been added to this 100-year old landmark for luxury and service.
The private rooms and suites have also been renovated, with not only beauty but comfort in mind. For example, fine Egyptian cotton sheets and sink-down mattress pads may make these beds spectacularly comfortable.
Several miles further South, in Boca Raton, Florida, is this city's signature resort, the Boca Raton Resort & Club. With 12 restaurants, 2 golf courses, 30 tennis courts, 3 fitness centers, 5 swimming pools, and a full service marina, it's one of the busiest places in town-indeed, one of the busiest hotels in just about any town.
Despite its size, though, the resort's concierge team handles hundreds of requests for activities that are not on the regular schedules: such as taking a balloon ride, or chartering a private jet to go off for a secluded lunch at the beach.
